I am a huge movie buff. I'm not exactly sure how many movies I have, but it's over 1000. I know it seems like a lot, and some of them I've yet to watch, but being a huge movie fan there are some movies I have to have. I'll get around to watching them. I don't have all of them on DVD though, I've got a lot of them on USB external hard drives. I'll just burn the DVD to my external, it saves a ton of space. I can categorize them and sort them in folders which makes it super easy to browse all of them.
Most people seem to be going the way of storing their movies this way because, well, you can. It's the same thing with music really. What's even better is that you can take your movie collection anywhere you go. I totally love this because I can always take it over to my friends and hook it up to their computers or stream it to their Xbox. Some USB external hard drives can be hooked up to your television if you get the right equipment. The things I look for in an external hard drive are:
- storage space is a big thing with 1 and 2TB becoming more the norm
- USB 2.0 plugin because all computers made now are compatible with this interface
- I want a serial bus transfer rate of minimum around 480Mb/s so you only have to wait a minute or two to transfer larger files
- most of them are now compatible with both Microsoft and Mac operating systems which provides the ultimate flexibility
- size is not so much an issue anymore, you can get 2TB around the same size as a paperback book and it's less than 2 pounds
- always get a warranty, it is a digital product remember
USB external hard drives are so awesome for someone like me. If you don't have one yet but you're thinking about it just go do it. Trust me, you'll be very happy. Visit www.USB-External-Hard-Drives.com for more information.
